Discover the history of rum production in Reunion !

The adventure begins with an information area giving visitors a combined history of an island, its population and manufacture of a product.

A timeline, amply illustrated with historical documents, authentic objects and quotes by members of the population, invites you to experience the history of the island of Reunion from the start of its settlement to this day.

Through this approach, mingling history, culture, techniques, industry and the sensory aspect of rum, the Saga du Rhum museum throws a light on the history of Reunion through the prism of rum.

The space also welcomes those preferring a shorter visit, through a condensed trail presenting just the key events of the history of rum in Reunion.

Practical information...

No special clothes, no safety helmets required and no minimum age. The Saga du Rhum is a true compromise between an industrial and a cultural museum. Families are welcome: visitors can wander freely and in total safety through the different areas of the museum.
